Ah DA, how long has it been? Last journal entry Sept. 26th? Sounds about right. I still find this site pretty ridiculous/stupid, but a few people I give a shit still use it, so this one's for my homiez.

Few things have developed. I'll put it in bullet form to make it short and sweet and not induce diabetic shock.

-I put out a new Transvaal IV EP February 9th. Sounds like the musical equivalent of ODing on Xanax, or, for those of you fond of influence algebra, Wolfgang Voigt + Christian Fennesz.

-I'm starting a record label. Since everybody pirates mp3s and only consumer fetishists and "real fans" buy physical copies, music will be distributed free online and physical copies will be limited run art objects (hand-painted CDs, cyanotyped sleeves, stainless steel cases, etc.). Development's been slow (shit's expensive), but hopefully it will pick up this summer.

-I've actually sold several prints of my photographs (which is infinitely more satisfying than commissioned portraiture). Surprisingly, one of my professors actually purchased my work.

-Was in my second group show in March. The organizers wanted my work in the show so badly that they invited me in to the exhibit and waived the panel jury review and the fact that I'm not a member of the organization represented (much less a full-time student).

-I'm learning to paint. My second painting, a knockoff of Jasper Johns Target With Four Faces (1955), is currently in a Salon-style exhibit. Not wild about this piece getting exposure (every artist wants people to appreciate their original work), but the fact that a piece titled A John For Jasper is in such a show is greatly amusing.

-I've joined the millions of narcissists on Twitter. [link]

-TCC is giving me a solo exhibition in the busiest building on the campus from October 1st to Halloween. This is a huge deal for a few reasons:

1. It will be my first solo exhibit.
2. It will be the longest-running exhibition I've ever been in.
3. EXPOSURE!
4. This is the first time I've seen a show on this scale given to a single student (and I've been at this school for five years).
5. While my proposal was approved, they've asked for MORE photographs than my proposal called for.
